After a Training Crash Course, two performances and a few jam sessions in the first half of 2022, what's next?
In this regular Training Season, 3 Cups of Kopi (3Cups) Playback Theatre Ensemble will continue to meet to train existing members as well as those who wish to find out about Playback Theatre.
We will cover several useful skills, forms, rituals, ethics, and practice pertaining to Playback Theatre. We're going to try to make it relevant for seasoned playbackers as well as newcomers. Some sessions will involve jamming and exploration.
Over 14 bite-sized workshop sessions, we will focus on different facets of Playback Theatre. Participants can choose to learn or explore at their own pace as there is no expectation to put up a public performance at the end of this season.
The goal is simply to create a space where everyone can learn and practice together. Come find out more about Playback Theatre, or work on deepening your current practice. Try a single session, or 3, or all 14!

What to expect
We will spend time teaching, learning, and practicing the various forms used in playback.
Rituals provide structure and make playback recognisable, creating common language for both the performers and the audience.
Playback Concepts and Ethics
With a history and foundation rooted in Inclusion and Community, as well as being an applied drama technique, Playback Theatre embodies an ethos of care and acceptance.
Drama Skills for Playback Theatre
Artistry plays an important part in portraying stories well. It's incredibly beneficial to revisit drama basics through the lens of Playback.
Time will be allocated for review and interaction amongst participants.
Playback Jam & Practice
Let's put emotions, deep listening and dramatic techniques into action as we create a fun, unique and comfortable space for exploration.
So what's this 'Training Season' about?
Is this a free programme?
What if I can't make it for my session?
Is this going to be conducted 'live' or online?
This is my first time attending a drama session, is that an issue?
